11.03.2011 – In a press release, EAPN Austria criticised European Ministers for using the EU project in the interest of the wealthy and the Head of States for breaking once more their promise to reduce poverty. In its press release EAPN Austria also urged Austrian politicians to fight for a social Europe.
Derbyshire Unemployed Workers’ Centres (member of EAPN UK): Derbyshire County Council withdraw support
Supporters of Derbyshire Unemployed Workers’ Centres have described the decision of Derbyshire County Council to completely withdraw its annual grant support as ‘utterly reckless’.
The Recommendation of the CNLE on the follow-up on the 2010 European year combating poverty and social exclusion was issued and sent to the French Government at the end of February 2011, calling for the adoption of a global, multiannual and multidimensional national plan of action. Anti-poverty campaigners in the UK have been active leading protests against the Government’s push to reduce benefit payments made to people who are unable to work through ill-health or disability.
EAPN Italia prepares for the 10th EU Meeting of People experiencing poverty – “when health is all you need”
Florence, February 25th, 2011. CILAP EAPN Italia, together with other regional partners, is organizing a workshop entitled “When health is all you need”, a joint reflection on health in times of crisis.
In 2010, EAPN Poland and the Polish Coalition of Social Watch worked together on a common report, edited by Kamila Plowiec, Chair of EAPN Poland. The report will be officially presented on 21 February.
