NEW! Updated EXPLAINER on Poverty and Inequality in the EU

16/09/2014 – EAPN issues its new and long-awaited Explainer on Poverty and Inequality in the EU, an update of the Explainer of the same name issued in 2009 and one of EAPN’s most popular publications. This explainer sets out to provide a simple introduction to the poverty debate. It focuses primarily on current perspectives on the nature and extent of poverty, its causes and its links to inequality. It explains how poverty is understood and measured currently in the EU, and highlights some of the shortcomings of these approaches.

September 2013, Namur – In this publication, “Regards sur la pauvreté et les inégalités en Wallonie”, the authors have opted to cross different indicators to best approach the reality of the Walloon population facing poverty and insecurity. Most of the indicators used were defined, used and validated at European level and are mainly from the European Survey on Income and Living Conditions ( EU-SILC) .

19/11/2015 – When discovering there was no help, no support nor advice for her and her son, Robbie, victim of a serious attack in Greece that left him with lifelong brain injuries, Maggie Hughes decided to take on the fight for the rights of victims. This fight led her from a helpless situation in 2008 in Crete to having helped influence EU legislation to support victims of crime in the EU in 2012 and to get a final judgement in Robbie’s case in September 2015.68/2015
