The social agenda, the issue of services, legislation to protect all grounds of discrimination as well as the European immigration pact were at the heart of the discussions.
For EAPN, an integrated approach on adequate income, access to services and employment, is essential for the integration of people furthest from the labour market.

EAPN Letter to Members of the European Parliament: Support the amendments on Energy poverty, Consumer rights and Participation!
On 18 June, the European Parliament will vote in its plenary session in Strasbourg on amendments to the Energy Package. EAPN wrote a letter to the Members of the European Parliament urging them to actively support the important amendments on Energy Poverty.
On the occasion of an EAPN seminar which was held in Paris on 13 June, EAPN presented the future French Presidency, with proposals regarding principles on Active Inclusion. The French are planning to adopt such principles at the Council meeting on 15-16 December 2008.

EAPN Ireland accuses Government of failing to consult people who experience poverty in the development of European social inclusion plan
EAPN Ireland calls on the Irish Minister of Social and Family Affairs to reconsider the decision not to involve people who experience poverty and organisations who work with them in developing the forthcoming National Action Plan on Social Inclusion 2008-2010.
