Human Right to Water and Sanitation must be in the Sustainable Development Goals!

24/06/2015 – This week negotiations on the final text for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are taking place in the UN. The outcome should be the final agreement that world leaders will sign for in the Summit in September. The current document being discussed is the “Zero-Draft” in which we want to see an explicit mention of the Human Right to Water and Sanitation in the final text, as stated and drafted by the NGO Mining Working Group.

Making Progress on Europe 2020: Investing in People for a Fairer EU | EAPN’s 2015 Assessment on Country-Specific Recommendations

17/04/2015 – EAPN presents its 2015 assessment of the 2014 Country-Specific Recommendations (CSRs) based on inputs from 24 national networks and European Organisations, and makes new proposals for 2015 CSRs. EAPN wants the European Semester to deliver results on the Europe 2020 goals of inclusive and sustainable growth and to deliver on its target to reduce poverty by at least 20 million by 2020.

The Social Investment Package must defend social spending!

Brussels, 15 February 2013 – The European Commission will adopt the long-awaited Social Investment Package on the 20th February. For the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN), the package must provide a coherent strategy for fighting poverty, backed by EU funding, capable of achieving the poverty target. It is vital that the package includes concrete measures that defend and show the benefits of social spending and infrastructures.
