In preparation for 2010, the European year against poverty, the Italian Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs has appointed EAPN Italia (CILAP) to carry out a project.
The project is coordinated by REAPN (EAPN Portugal) and involves 5 partners: UREI – Languedoc/Roussillon, CARITAS Romania, EAPN Bulgaria, Belgium and Spain. It is supported by the ILO learning platform CIARIS and EAPN Europe.
EAPN Ireland said on 12 December that it is deeply saddened that Mr Niall Crowley has been forced into the position of resigning as Chief Executive of The Equality Authority.
Improving social NGOs’ information and awareness of structural funds’ schemes, but also supporting them in developing their administrative capacity is crucial if we want structural funds to make a better impact in the fight against social exclusion.

On 25 November EAPN Ireland launched its DVD of the Irish delegation to the 7th European Meeting of People Experiencing Poverty in Brussels in May 2008.
The European Social Model will be at the heart of the awareness raising project.
The substantial grant will support their work in the run up to and during the 2010 European Year Against Poverty and Social Exclusion.
The delegates stressed the opportunity, provided by the current situation, to redouble efforts in the fight against poverty and for the greatest guarantee of social rights.
