17/01 – On the eve of the launch of the European Year on Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, the EY2012 Coalition, of which EAPN is a member, presents its joint Manifesto and Road Map and urges all relevant actors at local, national and European level to seize the momentum of the European Year 2012 to commit to creating an age-friendly European Union that will allow everyone to live, learn, work and age with dignity.

On 21 December, EAPN submitted its response to the stakeholder consultation organized by the SPC adhoc group on Child Poverty, following the stakeholder meeting held on the 14th December.The Adhoc group was set up to advise the Commission in developing the 2012 Recommendation on Child Poverty.
07/12 – (Utrecht) Hugo Swinnen has been a notable actor in the fight against poverty – contributing over thirty years to research and policy solutions on gender, participatory democracy and the interrelationships with poverty and social exclusion policy at national and EU level.
On 17-18 September, EAPN organized the first in a series of trainings for the Anti-Poverty Network of Serbia. This training and other activities are happening as part of a one-year EU funded project lead by SECONS development initiative group and involving 11 focus point organizations representing various groups of people experiencing poverty and social exclusion and service providers throughout Serbia.
Eurocities held their final event in the Cities for Active Inclusion project for 2011 on the 29th November in Brussels, assessing the key findings. The morning session included inputs from EP Employment Committee Vice President: Elizabeth Schroeder on the Future of ESF, followed by good practice workshops on social innovation, active inclusion of young people, quality of social services and social economy.
On 9 October, the newest member of EAPN – the National Anti-Poverty Network of Estonia – organized a Thematic Conference for the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion in Tallinn: Think and Talk about Poverty.
