The seminar consisted of a debate on civil society: the recognition of civil society and its role, East and West, in addressing the ‘New’ forms of poverty, for example that experienced by the unemployed, migrants and refugees, ethnic minorities, prisoners and ex-offenders, the homeless, and drug and alcohol abusers.
4/03/2015-EAPN Europe has signed an open letter to Members of the European Parliament in regards of the TTIP resolution. The letter puts an emphasis on the importance of putting public services, social rights and democracy in Europe before the interest of big corporate businesses on this trade agreement to be signed between Europe and US.

04/03/2015- EAPN Europe is part of a Global Coalition for Social Protection Floors partnering at the 28th session of the UN Human Rights Council and taking part on a side event named ‘Social Protection Floors and Human Rights’ this month in Geneva. Social protection floors can help better realisation of social, economic and cultural rights. The side event at the UN Human Rights Council aims at raising awareness on social security as a human right.
19-21/09 – EAPN Spain and EAPN Castilla y Leon organize the 2nd National Congress of people experiencing poverty in Valladolid, which is also the 9th meeting of People experiencing poverty organised at national level in Spain. Under the slogan “Citizenship Rights, from information to participation”, the Congress gathers over 160 people from all over Spain will gather at this meeting in order to meet fundamental rights that are recognized as citizens of the European Union. It takes place in the framework of the 2013 European Year of Citizens 2013.
