As Member States were still negotiating their strategic priorities (National Strategic Reference Frameworks and Operational Programmes) with the European Commission, the EAPN seminar aimed at examining the place given to social inclusion in the new programming period of structural funds, focusing more specifically on mechanisms that can support social NGOs’ access to the funds.
29/01 – EAPN participated in a small workshop with other social NGOs including Eurodiaconia, Caritas, Youth Forum, Solidar and Eurohealthnet, to discuss Eurofound’s forthcoming Research on the Social Inclusion of Young Peope, as part of Pillar 4 of their main Research programme: adequate living standards and promoting social cohesion.

Scottish Living Wage campaign has welcomed the announcement in Scottish Labour’s manifesto that if they form the next Scottish Government they will introduce a living wage of at least £7.15 an hour starting with those working in the public sector.

01/02 – An Adhoc group (ATD 4th World, Caritas Europa, Coface, Eurochild, EAPN, Eurodaconia, European Social Network, PICUM) sent a letter to Commissioner Andor, presenting joint proposals for a roadmap to drive more effective implementation of the up-coming Recommendation on Child Poverty and Well-being, by engaging all actors – at EU, national and local levels.
Last March Hungary celebrated the anniversary of the 1848 Revolution and fight for freedom (against the Habsburgs). An important point of the Revolution was the publishing and disseminating of the “12 points”, which were the main requirements of the Revolutionists regarding freedom in Hungary.
