What’s happened to Inclusion, Poverty and Participation?

EAPN welcomes Marianne Thyssen as designate Commissioner but is concerned by the loss of inclusion and civil-society engagement

Brussels, 12 September 2014 – The European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) welcomes Marianne Thyssen as designate Commissioner, and hopes that she will work actively with anti-poverty organisations and people with direct experience of poverty, to defend social objectives and support an effective integrated strategy on poverty to deliver on the poverty target, particularly through Europe 2020 and the Semester. However, EAPN is concerned by the loss of Inclusion and the absence of civil-society engagement from the DG Title.

17 Oct: Brussels Forum, member of EAPN Belgium Social Innovation Conference

Next 17th October, on the occasion of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, the FBLP (Brussels Forum Against Poverty, regional member of the Belgian Anti-Poverty Network), organises a conference on Social Innovation, as part of the Festival des Libertés, with the support of the French Community Commission of Brussels-Capital, the King Baudouin Foundation and CPAS of Saint-Gilles. The content of the conference will be based on an inventory of 33 projects identified as a spearhead of social innovation in Brussels.

EAPN holds stakeholder dialogue round table with EU institutions on delivery on 20% of ESF on poverty and partnership

On 02/12/2015,EAPN will hold a stakeholder dialogue round table on the topic of how to make progress on the 20% ear-marking of ESF on social inclusion and poverty and on the code of conduct on partnership. In 2015, EAPN established a Task Force to develop a Barometer survey with its members to monitor the implementation of both these topics, involving representatives from EAPN Portugal, Germany, Spain, Estonia, Romania and Bulgaria.
