EAPN Estonia: Raising awareness on poverty and extreme poverty

24/02 – On the occasion of the celebration of Estonian Independence Day at St. Olaf’s Church, EAPN Estonia organised an awareness-raising event around poverty and extreme poverty. The event aimed at gathering Tallinn’s homeless people, people who consider themselves to be living in poverty as well as decision makers. This event, open to the public, was also attended by two MEPs Indrek Tarand and Ivari Padar. In Strasbourg that day, Tunne Kelam however expressed his support.

EAPN Reaction to EU Budget Negotiations – Some light in the tunnel

Brussels, 27 November 2012 – EAPN welcomes President Barroso’s strong defense of the proposed EU Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived, but also warns the amount suggested will not cover the growing needs. On the cohesion funds and the future of the European Social Fund, the only Fund investing in people rather than in infrastructures, EAPN will continue to run its campaign EU Money for Poverty Reduction Now! calling on Member States to approve  the European Commission’s proposal, the only viable solution in that regard. EAPN also advocates for an end to the austerity approach, which has proven devastating and totally counterproductive.

EAPN holds a capacity-building training for its members

On 18-19 June, EAPN will hold a capacity-building training for its members to help them strengthen their knowledge and skills on how to engage in social-policy work both at EU and national levels. The regular trainings EAPN organizes are a key element contributing to the Network’s acknowledged ability to bring its different sources of expertise together in a bottom-up and participative approach.

04/03/2014 – Most EAPN National Networks have alerted national and local media on the launch of EAPN’s campaign around the European Elections Electing Champions for a Social Europe. Along with European Organisations, some of which also participated in the press briefing with MEPs and candidates to the 2014, they have also been active on social media and are on board for this active 2-month campaign!
