On the eve of the Informal Meeting of the Employment and Social Affairs Ministers, EAPN has reacted to the Commission’s proposals for a new framework for the Open Method of Coordination (OMC) on Social Protection and Social Inclusion.
Through its contacts with NGOs in the acceding countries, the European Anti Poverty Network has gathered information on the views of NGOs in some of these countries on the process of drawing up the Joint Inclusion Memoranda and on their content.
21 May 2014, Toulouse – EAPN spoke in the economic policy panel in the EPSU 9th Assembly, held in Toulouse. The panel was chaired by Philippe Pochet, ETUI, who channelled the panel debate around the 5 key challenges presented by Ronald Janssen/ETUC : the lack of demand fuelled by austerity, the need for a rethink on ECB investment policy, increasing precarious work, and falling wage share compared to profits; the need for fair taxation to finance public services and benefits and reduce inequality.
26/06/2012 – The Spanish Minister of Employment and Social Security, Fátima Báñez, made public on 26th June a reallocation of ESF funds for the Operational Programme “Fight against Discrimination” (2007-2013), which aims to promote the labour insertion of the more disadvantaged groups, in particular, immigrants, Roma, excluded groups and disabled persons.
EAPN has launched two new books aimed at contributing to the general debate on the future of Europe: a book entitled ‘The EU We Want’ and a comprehensive ‘Manual on the management of the EU Structural Funds’.
Run by five national EAPN networks (Germany, France, Italy, Portugal and the Netherlands) and completed at the end of August 2003, the project was aimed at defining poverty indicators by crossing the voices of people living in poverty with the knowledge of other actors.
25/04/2014 – EAPN took part in ETUI (European Trade Union Institute) conference: “Benchmarking working Europe 2014. Evaluating 5 years crisis management.” The conference aimed at presenting the report “Benchmarking working Europe 2014”, reviewing the crisis and EU austerity policies in the last five years from the point of view of European’s social agenda.
